When Prince Harry proposed to American actress Meghan Markle at the end of last year, she was hailed by the entire globe as people wanted nothing more than for her fairy tale dream to come true. Just a few months later, Markle’s royal wedding dream is in jeopardy as she has fallen out of favor with the public.
The Week just posted an oped entitled “Who Cares about Meghan Markle?” in which writer Matthew Walther completely trashes the future princess.
“The news that the actress who played Jill in the first two episodes of the 2008 incarnation of 90210 is affianced to a 33-year-old reformed pot smoker and ex-soldier would be of almost zero significance to those of us who do not care about the personal lives of H-list celebrities if it were not for the fact that the latter’s grandmother is one Mrs. Elizabeth Mountbatten, better known as Queen Elizabeth II,” Walther wrote in his scathing story.
“Meghan Markle is doubtless a kind and charming woman. But the bare fact of her being engaged to Twitter’s @HRHHenryWindsor is not enough to make her an interesting one,” the writer concluded.
Since her engagement was announced, many details have come out from Markle’s past that are anything but royal. Not only have numerous scenes of her simulating sex on the television drama “Suits” come to light, a clip has also surfaced of her bashing President Donald Trump. This is particularly bad since the British royal family is supposed to remain politically neutral.
The UK Independent reported that while appearing on TheNightly Show with Larry Wilmore in May of 2016, Markle was asked how the momentum of then-presidential candidate Trump could be slowed down. She didn’t hold anything back with her response, which was frankly anything but regal.
“It’s really the moment that I go, we film Suits in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada,” Markle replied. “I mean come on, if that’s reality we are talking about, come on, that is a game changer in terms of how we move in the world here.”
“Yes of course Trump is divisive. Think about just female voters alone,” she continued. “I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points. That’s a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is and so vocal about it, that’s a huge chunk of it. You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hillary because she’s a woman, but certainly because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting.”
